Too Bad I Stumble[d]Upon This Now
About a month ago, I found the site--or program, I guess--StumbleUpon. I can see hours of my life being drained from me every time I sign-on and start to Stumble. Luckily for me, I found this at a time that I'm just too busy to Stumble. I am excited to see what the buzz on the internet is, though.
StumbleUpon is just a downloadable program that attaches to your browser's toolbar. When you click Stumble!, the program automatically sends you to a "popular" website or page. The cool part of this is being able to find sites that you wouldn't normally have known about. Collaboration, my friend.
When you stumble, you get a site and then have the opportunity to give it a thumbs-up, or down. Obviously, people get to see the sites that have a lot of thumbs-up. Here are some of the sites that I found that I gave a thumbs-up.
- Speedtest. This is a how-fast-can-you-type site. This is what I did: You reached 358 points, so you achieved position 6700 on the ranking list. You type 469 characters per minute. You have 88 correct words, and you have 1 wrong words. See if you folks can out-type me!
- Fullbooks. This is a website in which you can check out thousands of free books on-line!
- The Modern Library's 100 Best novels.
- Block Posters. This is a cool site that will take any picture that you have--and break it into blocks making it huge! I can't wait to try this.
I have three pages of things that I gave a thumbs-up, and I've only done it once for about 30 minutes. I can see people getting addicted to this very quickly--at least I can see that for myself.
There are some problems with it, but, like I said, I haven't really done much experimentation with it yet. Hopefully, I'll be able to post some more cool sites later. Cheers.
This sounds fascinating Ray. Maybe you can show us tomorrow night! KES

Thanks for suggesting this, Ray. I read about it a couple of months ago, but then forgot to check it out.
I love the suspense of what will come up next. Sometimes it's a total dud, but sometimes it's something great. I'm tired now, but maybe tomorrow I'll post some of the good stuff that I've found through StumbleUpon.
